     Dallas resident Jane Cornish Smith’s nomadic childhood fostered an appreciation for varied artistic expression from a young age. A versatile artist, Jane produces two-dimensional and three-dimensional mixed media abstractions in a variety of subject matter, often incorporating oil, encaustic, and cold wax medium. 
     She received B.F.A. and M.L.A. degrees from Southern Methodist University, and a M.F.A. from East Texas A&M University (formerly Texas A&M University-Commerce), where she is currently an Adjunct Instructor. She has completed artist residencies at the International School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in Italy, the Vermont Studio Center, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Estudio Corazon in Abiquiui, New Mexico, and M. David and Co.in Brooklyn, NY.  She enjoys teaching workshops and curating exhibitions.
     An award-winning artist, Jane’s work has been shown in various solo and group exhibitions, as well as numerous regional, state, and national juried shows. She has work in institutions, businesses, and private collections across the world, including the permanent collections at the Tenby Museum and Art Gallery in Tenby, Wales; the Encaustic Museum of Art, Santa Fe, NM; Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch, TX; University of Texas at Tyler; East Texas A&M University in Commerce, TX; and also has work in the Art in Embassies Program in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, Africa.
